Suggested Program: Corfu, a culinarie experience
Arrive at Corfu and check in at a 5* resort hotel. Enjoy the hotel facilities and exclusive Spa treatments or relax by the sea. In the evening, meet your guide and the rest of the group while attending a welcome dinner at the hotel’s “secret garden”, a spot with the most amazing view!
Spend a day on a guided tour in the island’s Old Town, part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List. In the morning, visit important historic sites and finish off the tour with a cooking class and lunch in a local restaurant, introducing to you the Corfiot gourmet cuisine. In the afternoon, continue exploring the heart of the old town and enjoy your dinner in ονε of the most famous Corfiot restaurants located at the Liston.
Visit an organic farm in Southern Corfu, where you will have a guided tour and learn about the seasonal farming activities. You will be given hands-on lessons on how to knead & bake bread and pies and practice on traditional food preparation by using a wood-fire oven and fresh ingredients coming from the farm. You will taste various products of the Corfiot land, cooked according to genuine Greek recipes. The journey back in time continues with a workshop on natural olive-oil soap making and a descriptive tour in the showroom with some pre-industrial tools and machinery. Reward yourself with an afternoon swimming & cocktails at a stunning beach, next to a protected natural reserve.
Sail with a traditional fishing boat the North-East coastline of the Island. During the cruise, admire the golden, sandy and the white-pebbled beaches, make stops for swimming in the light-blue waters and explore the interior of fantastic caves. Move on to reach the beautiful Agni bay and have a hands-on cooking class at an awarded restaurant located by the sea. Prepare local dishes based on fish and other seafood as well as freshly cut vegetables, all cooked with pure olive oil and served with local wine, and enjoy a fabulous lunch! On your trip back, relax, soak up the sun and enjoy the vibe of sailing in the Greek waters. In the evening head downtown and enjoy a tasting of the local beer served with traditional “meze”.
Take a tour through the villages of Northern Corfu, come across mini-kiosks selling herbs and other local products on the way, and reach the highest location of Corfu, Pantokrator. Continue the afternoon in a simple and beautiful space, combining gastronomy with a playful touch, situated in a wild natural setting with amazing panoramic views of central Corfu. Learn about the history of the place with a homemade softdrink, wander around the vineyard, get acquainted with a big variety of herbs and vegetables in the garden, see the permanent exhibition of equipment that was used for traditional production of wine and olive-oil and learn more about these methods via a mini DVD-presentation. Hands-on cooking follows, traditional recipes that were gradually fading in time are revived and shared, little cooking secrets are revealed whilst preparing some local dishes, using fresh ingredients from the garden as well as homemade products from our hostess’very own brand. Follows a visit to the Monastery of Paleokastritsa and some relaxation time and a swim in the crystal clear blue waters nearby. Proceed for dinner to a traditional Corfiot taverna located in a charming village and taste the local flavors.
Visit the Corfu Beekeeping Center and gather information on beekeeping & honey production, by observing the whole process on the field. Next stops: two of the island’s wineries, where you will have a wine-tasting experience and try some local delicacies listening to the stories of the family-grown businesses and enjoying some amazing views of the sea and of the vineyards. The tour continues with a visit to the ginger-beer production unit, where you can also taste this healthy, refreshing beverage. A bit further lays one of the renovated Corfiot mansions that are spread across the island. There you take part in a cooking seminar run by an experienced chef and enjoy lunch and moments of relaxation in this beautiful setting. Close the day, with a gourmet goodbye dinner at one of Greece’s award-winning restaurants, mainly influenced by the Mediterranean cuisine.
In the morning, enjoy your remaining leisure time at the hotel and prepare to leave beautiful Corfu, before continuing your Culinary Experience to your next destination.
